ABOUT SECURE THE CALL >
There are thousands of people across the U.S. that don’t have access to a cell phone to dial 911 in case of emergency. Yet every discarded cell phone has access to 911.
HAVE NO FEAR!
SECURE THE CALL IS HERE
SECURE THE CALL—A non-profit organization that provides free 911, emergency-only cell phones to those at-risk—is working to solve two major issues in our world today.
They collect and distribute old, unwanted cell phones to people who have no access to dial 911, and those most at risk of needing emergency services.
This helps eliminate electronic waste by helping people who are electronically isolated from readily available emergency services.

PROBLEM #1
ELECTRONIC WASTE
Electronic waste in our landfills—specifically unwanted cell phones—contains significant quantities of toxic materials that take thousands of years to degrade.
PROBLEM #2
PEOPLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO 911
Hundreds of thousands of people in this country are electronically isolated from readily available emergency services. Without owning or having access to a cell phone, they have no convenient way to dial 911.
THE SOLUTION
EACH PROBLEM SOLVES THE OTHER
BY LAW, cell phones sold in the United States must be capable of accessing 911 services regardless of their status relative to a carrier. All users of cell phones pay a monthly fee to support this service. If you have an old cell phone that you got from a carrier you no longer have a relationship with, you can still call 911 with that phone.
